New Home Prices in Canada Increased 0.5% in August, the Fastest Pace in Three Years

Prices of new homes in Canada increased 0.5% in August from July, the largest month-over-month gain in three years, according to data from Statistics Canada released on Monday. The agency said that shortages for lumber and other building materials are driving up construction expenses, adding an extra cost of about C$5,000 (US$3,770) to C$10,000 to a single-family home.
